As a teen, Elizabeth Devaney saw the movie "The Miracle of Life" about childbirth and knew immediately this was her passion. Helping new babies and their parents solve breastfeeding problems has become her life's work.
Elizabeth has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years, with experience in maternal child nursing. After many years of working with parents and their babies, she became an IBCLC, International Board Certified Lactation consultant, the gold standard of care for breastfeeding families.
Her private practice began in order to fill a need for new parents struggling at home without support after hospital discharge. Elizabeth believes all parents deserve continued support. Very quickly, her private practice grew solely through word-of-mouth. She is proud to have met the credentialing requirements and to provide in-network support through Aetna.
She believes strongly in helping new parents find their tribe, create their village, make connections, and support one another. It's a joy to spend every day with parents and their beautiful infants and to watch families thrive.
Elizabeth has been married for 16 years to her best friend, Steve. They reside in New Jersey with children, Maggie (age 14) and Patrick (age 11). Even having experience, and a strong belief in the process of breastfeeding, Elizabeth too struggled with nursing both of her kids.
With Patrick, she attended a weekly support group offered by her local hospital. A circle of friends evolved from this opportunity. These moms became her tribe. They cheered each other on through many of life's journeys.
Allyson Murphy is a proud mom to sons Callum (age 7) and Sean (age 4). Her passion for breastfeeding support was born after her first little guy came into the world refusing to nurse. The amazing help she received from lactation professionals inspired her to not only push through the challenges, but to give back and make a career change at age 37.
After graduating from Syracuse University, Allyson spent 15 years as a graphic designer. In February 2015 she began volunteering with Breastfeeding USA, and helps run the North Jersey Chapter which meets 2-3 times a month in Essex County.
Allyson became an IBCLC in December 2017, after 18 months of generous mentoring from Elizabeth. You can join her every week for our Morristown Breastfeeding Support Group. She also oversees the web and social media presence for Laid Back Lactation. And yes, she designed the logo, too.
She lives in South Orange with her boys and husband Tim where she volunteers with several local organizations. She is happiest when she’s bringing folks together, cheerleading others on, and building communities. Follow her on Instagram at @AllyCatts.
