... for every step of your breastfeeding journey
Welcome to Laid Back Lactation! We are a warm and welcoming support system for nursing families. We know breastfeeding can be stressful, at times overwhelming. Our consultants help breastfeeding parents address nursing issues such as latching pain, sore nipples, milk supply, baby not gaining weight, lip or tongue ties, and more. We also help build confidence and knowledge in a relaxed atmosphere.
We believe strongly in providing accurate and up-to-date information. We work with your healthcare team and support you not just during the hard times, but throughout your nursing journey. Our support continues after your first consultation: by phone, text and email.
And we remember that every experience is unique. We work with you to help define and meet your breastfeeding goals. We bring warm hugs, a sense of humor and zero judgment to each consultation. We look forward to working with you and your family.
Breastfeeding and the postpartum period can be a volatile and emotional time. We firmly believe that all new parents need support. Laid Back Lactation provides compassionate care, emotional encouragement, and evidence-based solutions for you and your baby. We meet you where you are and help craft a care plan tailored to your needs, without judgement or pressure.
And our guidance doesn’t end after your consult. We’re here for you with continued text message answers to your questions.

Laid Back Lactation is an in-network provider with Aetna (must be the primary insurance for coverage). For most Aetna plans, this means no out-of-pocket cost or copay for initial or follow-up consultations. We always encourage clients to contact Aetna to confirm their level of coverage.
In-Office Visits: Aetna covers at 100%
For clients with all other non-Aetna insurance companies, clients pay the full consult cost up front. Laid Back Lactation provides a superbill for the client to submit directly to the insurance company.
In-Office Visits: $350
Clients are encouraged to contact their individual provider to determine reimbursement eligibility for lactation care, which under the Affordable Care Act should be covered. The toolkit provided by the National Women’s Law Center is useful to read before communicating with the insurance provider.

Meet our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants
Meet our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants
Elizabeth Devaney RN, IBCLC began her journey as a registered nurse over 25 years ago. During her hospital nursing career, she gained years of experience working in maternal-child health. Working with babies and parents along their feeding journeys. After nursing her children, she became deeply interested in lactation. This set Elizabeth on the path to earning her certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2009.
After becoming accredited, Elizabeth established her private practice, Laid Back Lactation, in 2013. Her hope was to assist the countless families that could not find the feeding support they so desperately needed after discharge from the hospital. With a firm belief that all parents deserve continued support coupled with her clear passion for lactation, her private practice grew solely through word-of-mouth. Since embarking on her path to supporting families with feeding their infants, Elizabeth has continued to strive to provide compassionate care that is rooted in her desire to see all families thrive by meeting them where they are and guiding them towards their goals.
When Elizabeth is not basking in working with babies and their families, you may find her bundled up in the stands of a hockey rink, cheering on her son, Patrick, as he takes to the ice. She also cherishes spending time with her college-aged daughter, Maggie, loves tending to her irises in the spring and walking her dog, Kors. Elizabeth and her husband, Steve, have been married for over 20 years and his support has helped her pursue her dreams of helping parents and babies.
